Arbor Day

The boys each brought an oak tree sapling home from school on Friday.  We planted them towards the edge of our woods yesterday.  I can't say I have the highest hopes for our success in this endeavor, but we'll see what happens!

Garden 2012

Tim has made me 2 4'x8' raised bed gardens.  They are beautiful and totally fit the bill and are the most over-engineered garden beds that have ever been made.  I love that man!  So, in Bed #1, closest to the backyard, I have planted: sugar snap peas, snow peas, radishes/carrots, okra, popcorn, and broccoli (in that order).  These were planted approximately April 10, and I already see a few things sprouting.  On April 19, Jeremy and I put in a row of lettuce in Bed #2.  We also planted our seed potatoes from Granny's garden in a pot on the back patio.  We actually have quite a few more potatoes to plant, and I'm not quite sure where we're going to go with them.  So far we have no plan for raccoon or other pest abatement beyond planting marigolds all around the beds.  We'll see how that goes!

Who's on First

Last night after watching Chipwrecked (which Tim could not even stand to be in the room for), the boys and I had a dance party to the song montage on the Chipwrecked DVD.  Crazy fun.  Then, the Reds game was on, and it got Tim and the boys onto the subject of the Abbott and Costello Who's on First routine.  I absolutely love that, having had the conversation, we could go straight to YouTube on our TV and watch the routine.  We watched it twice - the kids cracking up from start to finish.  I had Who's on First on a cassette tape when I was a kid.  I must have listened to it 100 times or more.  LOVE that my kids love it, too!
